MYSORE: An explosive detection dog died on Monday, following prolonged illness. Aadi, the police dog aged 6 years, breathed his last while he was being taken to Veterinary hospital on Dhavanthri Road.

The dog fell ill a fortnight ago and was under treatment. But he showed no signs of recovery, the police said.
Aadi, a black Labrador, was included in the city police dog squad six months ago. Previously he had served in Bangalore for nearly six years before relocating to Mysore. The city police had utilized his services during Dasara 2010 edition to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Untimely death of Aadi has created a vacuum in the city police force as at present, there is no explosive detection dog. Two ED dogs have gone for training in Bangalore and will be back only after three months. Now city police had to depend on district police in case of emergency.
