As many as 21 dogs were found poisoned to death in the old city over the last few days, according to police.

While some were stray dogs, some were pets and a dog lover Suresh Raut filed complaint with the police after he came across the dying dogs.

Akola municipal corporation has also taken cognisance of the incident and sent the relevant samples to Government Medical Laboratory in Nagpur to determine the cause behind the death of so many dogs.

Sources said it could be the work of some people who were not able to bear with the dog menace in the area and might have poisoned the dogs.
