To
Mr. Gopinath Chandran,
Neeya Naana Host,
Vijay TV.

You have always been celebrated as a voice of reason and motivation. I still remember your words: “If a 16-year-old individual does anything wrong, the parents, the government, the media, and society are responsible, not the child alone and don't abandon the child".

If even a 16-year-old with a fully developed sixth sense is not held solely responsible, how can you place blame not just on one dog, but on an entire species that does not even have the sixth sense?

The same logic applies to dog-related issues. When a dog bites, it is not an isolated act of the animal. Neglect, Abandonment, fear, hunger, irresponsible human behaviour and failure of governance all contribute. Yet, the entire blame is unjustly placed on the dog alone. Is this not society’s failure being hidden by scapegoating an animal?

Yes, we must value human life. But true respect for human life also means standing for dignity, compassion, and justice. Protecting one life while spreading hostility against another is not humanity,  it is injustice.

Your show Neeya Naana gave you immense recognition across Tamil Nadu. But with that recognition comes responsibility. Today, participants of the show are being mocked, bullied, and abused across social media. Their mental well-being is being destroyed. So many days have passed, are you not aware of this pain?

Would it take so much to release just one statement - to clarify that Neeya Naana is only a debate platform, that participants do not deserve to be mocked or harassed? Such a statement could stop the abuse and protect their dignity. Silence, on the other hand, only fuels the cruelty further.

As you yourself once quoted:

மாபெரும் சபைகளில் நீ நடந்தால், உனக்கு மாலைகள் விழ வேண்டும்.”

This applies to you as well. With your influence, you should be receiving praise, not curses; respect, not resentment. That is the true measure of leadership.

Media is powerful. Words spoken on such platforms shape public opinion, create division, and even redefine values. Tamil culture stands for aram, anbu, aanmigam - righteousness, compassion, and spirituality. By allowing mockery and cruelty to spread from your platform, are we not betraying the very foundation of our culture?

Mr. Gopinath Chandran, when you stand up for human life, you must also stand up for human dignity and mental health. When you influence society, you must also protect society from division and hatred.

Today, one responsible statement from you could heal wounds, protect innocent participants, and remind people of compassion. But silence will only be remembered as indifference.

Neeya Naana should be remembered as a stage that united voices, not one that divided and humiliated them. It is time to act, to reflect, and to restore the humanity we are losing.

Subject: Urgent Action Against Irresponsible Media Reporting on Community Dogs, Protection of Animals is a Governmental Duty

Respected Sir,

We, the undersigned citizens, seek your urgent intervention regarding the alarming trend of media outlets spreading false, exaggerated, and negative narratives against community dogs. Such biased reporting not only misguides the public but also disrupts communal harmony and law and order.

Key Concerns:

1.  Disruption of Public Harmony: Media sensationalism against dog’s fuels hostility, leading to cruelty against animals and normalization of violence in society. This directly affects human behaviour and safety.

2.  Government Responsibility: Protection of animals is not charity—it is a constitutional duty and comes under the direct responsibility of the State. Failure to act reflects a system failure.

3.  Ignored Issues: While real issues such as the killing of puppies, dangerous potholes, banned firecracker usage, and rising air and water pollution go unaddressed, the focus is wrongly shifted onto animals.

4.  One Health Framework: The globally accepted One Health approach emphasizes that human health, animal health, and environmental health are interconnected. By allowing toxic narratives against animals, we weaken this critical balance, risking outbreaks, public safety, and ecological harmony.

Our Demands:

1.Immediate legal action against media outlets that incite hate or spread misinformation against animals.

2.Strict enforcement of existing laws under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Wildlife Protection Act, and relevant IPC provisions.

3.Public accountability of media houses to ensure reporting is ethical, scientific, and socially responsible.

4.Integration of One Health into policy decisions, ensuring animal welfare is treated as an essential pillar of public health and governance.

Protecting animals is not optional kindness; it is an inseparable duty of governance. Misinformation that breeds cruelty against animals threatens not just their lives but also human values, social harmony, and environmental health. We urge you to act decisively and set an example of compassionate and responsible leadership.

On behalf of concerned citizens and animal welfare advocates.
