A veggie happy, animal-friendly Diwali.!

Diwali – a festive season of eating, drinking, spending and merriment. The streets come alive with twinkling lights, fireworks ,the shops deck their windows with dazzling displays and seasonal spirit and festive cheer fill the air.

At the one time of year when most people are determined to be happy, raising the issue of animal cruelty can make you look like a killjoy. But the truth is that for millions of animals, Diwali celebrations are the cause of considerable cruelty.

Slaughtered and eaten; given away as presents like disposable toys; and forced to perform silly tricks for the sake of entertainment – these are just a few of the ways in which animals suffer for our seasonal pleasure.

With a little thought and action however, you can make sure your choices have not caused harm to animals. And celebrate a "Compassionate Diwali ".

Fireworks are not animal-friendly. It Threaten Animals. This Diwali say NO to noise fireworks. Happy Diwali!

விலங்குகள் நலன் என்ற பெயரில் பெருகி வரும் மோசடி NGO - க்கள்.

தற்போதைய Digital யுகத்தில் புதுப்புது விதமாக மோசடிகள் அரங்கேறி வருவது அனைவரும் அறிந்ததே.

Animal rescue, Animal ambulance, Animal shelter, Short term kennels, 5km தூரம் வரை  24 மணி நேர இலவச விலங்குகள்  ஆம்புலன்ஸ், Dog boarding, தினமும் 500 முதல் 2000 தெரு நாய்களுக்கு உணவு  அளிக்கின்றோம், என பலப்பல புது வடிவங்களில் வசூல் செய்யப்படும் NGO -க்கள் மற்றும் தனி நபர்கள்.

இப்படிப்பட்ட மோசடிப் பேர்வழிகள் Crowdfunding இணையதளங்கள் வாயிலாக பல லட்சங்கள் முதல், கோடிகள் வரை வசூல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

ஆனால் தாங்கள் செய்யும் வசூலின் ஒரு சிறு தொகையை விலங்குகளுக்கு உதவி செய்வது போல் செய்து விட்டு மிகப் பெரும் பணத்தை ஏப்பமிட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

சென்னையை பொறுத்தவரை சுமார் 50 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட NGO -க்கள் விலங்குகள் நலனுக்காக செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றன. ஆனால் சில NGO -க்கள் விலங்குகள் நலன் என்ற போர்வையில் மிகப்பெரும் வசூலில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர். ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட Crowdfunding இணையத்தில்  இவர்களுக்கு தேவையான தொகை வசூல் ஆனவுடன் வேறு ஒரு Crowdfunding இணையத்தில் ஒரு புது கதையுடன் மீண்டும் வசூல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

இவ்வாறு  போதிய வசூல் செய்துவிட்டு அதன் பிறகு விலங்குகளின் உதவிக்கு இவர்களைத் தொடர்பு கொண்டால் சரியாக பதில் கூறாததுடன் அழைப்பையும் துண்டித்து விடுகிறார்கள். சிலர் நாங்கள் இப்பொழுது எங்களுடைய  நிறுவனத்தை மூடி விட்டோம்  என்றும் கூறுகிறார்கள்.

சில NGO -க்கள் அனுமதி இன்றி வன விலங்குகளை காப்பாற்றுகிறோம் என்ற போர்வையில் அவற்றைப் பிடித்து துன்புறுத்தி புகைப்படம் மற்றும் வீடியோக்கள்  எடுத்து அதன்  வாயிலாக தங்களை  சுய விளம்பரப்படுத்தி அதன் மூலமும் வசூல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

மேலும் சிலர் Dog boarding  என்ற பெயரில் தினமும் 200 ரூபாய் முதல் 1000 ரூபாய் வரை நாய்களை பாதுகாக்க வசூலிக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் இவர்கள் எந்தவிதமான பாதுகாப்பும் போதிய உணவும் தராமல் சிறு சிறு கூண்டுகளில்  அடைத்து  வைத்து  கொடுமைப்  படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

இவ்வாறு போதிய வசதிகள் இன்றி அடைத்து வைப்பதால் சில நாய்கள் இறப்பதும்,  சில நாய்கள் காயங்களுடன் தப்பி  ஓடுவது  போன்ற நிகழ்வுகளும் நடந்துள்ளன.

விலங்குகள் நல கூட்டமைப்பு இதை  வன்மையாக கண்டிப்பதுடன் இந்தப் போலிகள் குறித்த  முழு விவரங்களையும்  அரசின் பார்வைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லவும் தயாராக உள்ளோம்.

இம் மோசடிப்  பேர்வழிகள் இத்துடன்  நிறுத்திக்  கொள்ளாவிட்டால் இதுகுறித்த ஆதாரங்களுடன் வழக்கு தொடரப்படும் என்பதையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கின்றோம்.

விலங்குகள் நல ஆர்வலர்கள் இதுபோன்ற மோசடி NGO -க்கள் மற்றும் Dog boarding -களை அடையாளம் கண்டு அவர்களைப் புறக்கணிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கின்றோம்.

Wild boar status:

Wild boar is protected under Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and is covered under Schedule 3 of the Act. This timid species are often misunderstood. This controversial species also needs further specific legislation to protect very own survival. If we treat them as vermin and kill, will only result in elimination of this species from our polluted forests and its buffer zones. Further there is no major scientific study on this hapless animal which is usually ignored during wildlife census due to their large presence.

 

Wildlife activists and biologists have already termed the concept of vermin elimination as a disaster to ecosystem, but farmers opine the move would help them to enhance the crop yield in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and North India where the crop damages are high due to these animals.

Why wild boar needs to be protected:

Big predators like Tiger and leopard at times rely on wild boar and removal of them from the protected list will affect the food chain of predators. The old animals or lactating felines at times require more feed and during such times the wild boar is easy prey for such animals. Even for sub adult leopards, tigers and jackal they need boar as an alternate in their food chain.

 

The state governments are already providing compensation for the farmers, if wild animals including elephant and boar damage their crops. This system should be continued with more early release of compensation instead of killing the wild animals. Passing orders to kill the wild animals will entertain hunting and boar will end in the plates of meat consumers.

 

Reports of wild boar damaging forests and agricultural fields have to be understood in detail. These animals stray into agricultural lands due to depleting forests. This is a scientific issue which needs to be addressed with ecological solutions.

 

While the economical damage of the boar are only contemplated, they play the role of ingesting crops dropping the waste that are rich in nutrient which increase the soil richness, which is otherwise polluted through pesticides and insecticides.
